Losing the finals is never fun... However Jan can take comfort in the fact that a win over Tijs wouldn't have given him enough rating for the rating cut. Jan comes in fifth at the moment, while before him Peter narrowly missed out due to Floris' win last week.
After tonight's draft it's clear that Mattias, Elmer and Floris are Qualified on rating. Congratulations!

Julien and Thijs (Honingh) had to cancel, but Johan and Tijs are more than happy to steal their seats.
Floris is in good shape to become first overall on rating, but the opposition is tough in Elmer, Johan ans Tijs.

Yuri drafted Cube for the first time and did the smart thing: He drafted RW Aggro, which always seems to be open, and added some PWs on top. As it turned out it was the only deck that presented Jesse's Funky-build with real fits. Well done Yuri!
Jesse's win places him in the top 3 ranked players for the CubeVitational with only two drafts to go. Can he hold on to that spot? Jesse beat Floris in the final, which is semi-bad news for Floris as his loss makes him tied for #1 on Rating, while a win would have put him 17 points ahead on Peter. On the bright side it seems that the powering down of blue is taking hold as we have another non-blue winning deck.
Terry continues to be a solid contender, as his 2-1 finish (with Panoptic Mirror / Booster Tutor / A.Recall / Plow Under shenanigans, how evil) really puts him within reach of qualifying both on Rating and in the Ranking. Tijs had yet another 2-1 finish, while Hylke hoped to clinch qualifying on Ranking but failed at 0-3, alas. He said after the draft that that didn't surprise him. The deck he was drafting wasn't being passed to him anymore during the third booster as Balthasar had switched to mono-blue, which was being passed to him because Thomas realised he was being cut out of blue in the second booster and had switched to WBg.

First of all I wish to thank Peter for adding a batch of p-i-m-p to my Cube: Welcome Judge-foil Survival, Wheel and Glaciers!
Two new players entered the fold for the latest draft. Sven (of GP Madrid fame) and Ruben have drafted their fair share of other formats, but they only have 1 Cubedraft between them. The new guys will (most likely) not know the card pool and because the people around them that should make for a rough first Cubing experience.
Afterwards Ruben proclaimed the format was random, as manascrew or flood means autoloss. While autolosing is mostly the case indeed in such a scenario, it is debet to the powerlevel and thus cannot be any other way. At the other end of the spectrum Sven's lands got Chaos Orbed by Thomas and he lost because of it. Getting Armagedon-ed is never fun...
I sincereley hope both players will give Cube another try. All they can do is study the pool and remember that synergy beats bombishness. In the meantime I'm still looking for a way to fix Chaos Orb in such a fashion that it's not merely a colorless Vindicate that Tezz can fetch and Ruins can recur.

Alas, it was the last Qualifier..
Direct qualification for the CubeVitational was on the line of course, but there was more to fight for: a safe spot in the ranking, ratingpoints and DCI foils, a Fling for participating and a playset of Kor Firewalker and Sylvan Ranger for the top4.
I'm real happy to notice that the aniticipation is growing. Other Qualified players come over to check on the draft and are curious about who's in the final. Also people want to know how they need to perform in the ranking or rating to Qualify via that route, or what the k-value if tonight's draft is, and how much drafts there are left...
Yes, color me proud and happy.
