Shortfang/Stabwhiskers got cut for Scepter of Fugue. See Update #24.
Shortfang dies to creature removal. Not something you want to happen to your reusable discarder. Also, you lost the ability when it flipped, which sucked sometimes.

Nezumi is however instant speed and is a lot easier to splash / play in a multi color deck.

I think you're wrong Wander.
Lacerator can lose you the game. while you can simply tap the Carnophage...
